Home for Fishing Fishing as a sport, hobby or favorite pastime is something that all generations can enjoy their entire lives. The pastime of fishing can be enjoyed virtually anywhere, from farm ponds, to huge reservoirs, from the east coast to the west coast.
The market for fishing equipment is growing every day; from rods and reels to specialized clothing even special ring tones for your cell phone? Boat manufactures have gone so far as to build specialized boats for every type of fishing you can imagine. Boats built for bass fishing, deep sea fishing, pan fishing. even crappie fishers have specialized models.
With the emergence of the mega-retailers into the market, the buying public has a vast array of choices, no matter what their fish of choice. With the advent of the large bass tournament trail with world wide television coverage has increased the awareness of the average weekend angler. The average angler sees all the latest gear that the pros use and of course they must have one too. Even on your local lake, you can find the weekend angler with a $50,000 bass boat, complete with expensive bait casters and spinning outfits covering the deck.
To the fishing purist none of this makes much difference. The purist sees fishing as pure relaxation. No global positioning satellites, no sonar, no flying across the water at 100 miles per hours can compare with simply sitting on the bank of a farm pond with a cane pole and a can of worms, enjoying the sights and sounds of nature.
The weekend angler is by far the most common of today’s fishers. He has his 9 to 5 job, a home and a family, and all the responsibilities that come with it. So, why does he get up at four a.m., rush to the boat ramp to avoid the crowd and hope that no one beats him to his favorite spot? Why, for that once in a lifetime chance of landing the big one. We fishermen are a strange lot, aren’t we? Check out our page on bass boats.
